Materials/Inspiration

Even before I put significant time in to designing a prototype, I was very focused on what materials I would want to make a fight stick out of.

There are a ton of fight sticks on the market that feature great artwork, LED's and a lot different materials. These are great fight sticks and definitely are the right aesthetic for a lot of gamers.

I want to try something different with ball&button's first stick. For a long time, I have been a hobbyist woodworker. I love the look and feel of wood, especially in areas like technology where they are not typically used. I loved the old Stereo amplifiers of the 70's and how they married wood and metals like stainless steel and aluminum

For my first fight stick, I have chosen to use black walnut and aluminum. I love the natural finish of black walnut with just a finishing oil like danish oil. my hope is to use these materials to deliver a fight stick that looks great and performs at the same high standards as the tournament joysticks that are currently on the market.

Getting Started

Welcome to ball&button. Over time, my hope is to provide an option to gamers who want high performance, beautiful gaming peripherals. My goal is to marry design and function to provide fight sticks and gaming machines that belong on display in the home.

I am currently exploring different designs for my first prototype. I will share these designs and my progress as I work towards my first prototype fight stick.

Thanks and hello again.
